Unlike diet plans that promise a quick fix, the Jenny Craig Program helps clients learn how to create a healthy relationship with food … build an active lifestyle … and develop a balanced approach to living by being personalized to fit clients’ lifestyles, rather than forcing them to adjust their lives to fit our program.
Delivered through the one-on-one support of trained consultants, the program emphasizes balancing food, body and mind – the three essential components of successful weight management.
The Jenny Craig Program is designed by our own team of registered dietitians in consultation with our expert Medical Advisory Board, whose recommendations reflect the latest research on physical activity and lifestyle change for weight management and disease prevention. These leaders in the health and wellness industry are widely known and recognized for their innovative research contributions.
Getting Started
When prospective clients enter a Centre, they are asked to complete a
one-page Health Sheet. If certain medical conditions exist, their
doctor’s permission may be required for enrollment.
Once enrolled, clients choose a comfortable, realistic weight-loss goal
based on a combination of body mass index (BMI), body composition,
physical activity level, age, gender, motivation and personal weight
history.
A calorie level is assigned to help clients achieve a weekly
weight loss of 1-2 pounds or 1% percent of their current body weight.
Adolescent clients or those who are breastfeeding aim for a ½ - 1 pound
of weight loss per week. Results vary based on metabolism, health
conditions, medications, physical activity, menu compliance, program
adherence and other factors.
Program Options
Clients usually have three Jenny Craig Program options from which to
choose. Once they’ve been with us for a while, many clients elect to
upgrade to one of our more comprehensive Program offerings.

Programs include:
Jenny TuneUp
A limited-time program that is perfect for people preparing for an
upcoming wedding, reunion or new job, Jenny TuneUp is designed for
Clients who have up to 10 pounds to lose, are usually active, eat
pretty healthfully and who don’t have a pattern of losing and gaining
weight. Clients receive one-on-one consultations, Jenny Craig menus,
personalized activity and motivation plans, Success Made Simple guide,
and Weight Loss Manual One.
Jenny OnTrack
A six-month program for Clients who have more than 10 pounds to lose,
are occasionally active and have lost and regained weight at least once
before, Jenny OnTrack includes all the components of Jenny TuneUp plus
a YourStyle personalized profile, Weight Loss Manual Two and a
motivational audiotape.
Jenny Rewards
Jenny Rewards is a 12-month program, designed to help clients achieve a
healthy lifestyle with the long-term support that will help them lose
weight and keep it off.
To recognize Clients’ efforts and their
progressing weight loss, we reward them with increasing food discounts
( 10% off visits 1-10; 20% off visits 11-20; 30% off visits 21+; 35%
off visits 21+ at goal.) Jenny Rewards includes all the components of
Jenny OnTrack plus: Dining Out Guide; $5 off Jenny Craig Cookbook; $30
in Product Discounts; One-on-one Maintenance Consultations; Maintenance
Mastery Manual; Program Materials Holder; Annual Renewals; and a $99
Spouse Program.
Our Staff
Jenny Craig takes pride in hiring health-oriented and customer-focused
individuals who genuinely enjoy working with people. Once hired, each
employee attends and is
certified in a comprehensive week-long training course and becomes
certificated by The Cooper Institute.
All employees also attend weekly
staff meetings and monthly continuing education classes in areas such
as nutrition, exercise, motivation and stress management to help them
keep abreast of Jenny Craig Program and industry developments.
Centre employees include Consultants, who work with clients weekly as
“partners in lifestyle change” to motivate them, assist them with their
weekly menu planning, and provide them with personalized strategies to
help them on their weight loss journeys. Program Directors give clients
their initial sales presentations and tours of the Centre, and the
Centre Director is responsible for all daily Centre operations.
While losing weight on the Program is certainly not a prerequisite for
becoming an employee, many staff members have experienced success as
clients on the Program. Their personal experiences give them an even
greater insight into offering clients relevant suggestions and
encouragement.
The Cornerstones of the Program
The Jenny Craig Program is about balancing food, body and mind - the
three essential components of weight management:
Creating A Healthy Relationship with Food [ FOOD ]
Along with low-fat food choices and portion control, our program
teaches clients to tune into physical/emotional eating cues and be
mindful about what they eat. By emphasizing moderation versus
deprivation, it
also reassures them all foods can fit into a nutritious eating plan.
Clients learn to eat enjoyably and healthfully throughout the program,
based on their Eating Style that reflects their individual experiences,
eating cues and habits: * Uninformed Eater – learning about healthy
eating * Emotional Eater – eating in response to feelings * Unconscious
Eater – unaware of your eating * Social Eater – influenced by others *
Balanced Eater – maintaining a healthy relationship with food
Jenny Craig Menus are low in cholesterol and high in fiber, range from
1200 – 2300 calories per day, and are complemented with vitamin and
mineral supplements to ensure balanced nutrition.
Every week, clients
choose the menu that best fits their tastes and lifestyles (Planned,
Personalized, Higher Protein or Meatless). All menus enable clients to
dine out or enjoy prepare their own foods from the very beginning of
their program, and are available on our Web site (www.jennycraig.com)
for added ease in menu planning.
Clients can purchase Jenny Craig cookbooks that include
easy-to-prepare, nutritionally balanced recipes that they can prepare
as they transition off our Jenny’s Cuisine entrees. Our most recent
cookbook - The Volumetrics Cookbook for Jenny Craig - incorporates the
highly regarded Volumetrics principles of Dr. Barbara Rolls, and shows
clients how consuming low-calorie density foods like fruits and
vegetables can facilitate weight loss and maintenance.
Building An Active Lifestyle [BODY]
The Program takes a lifestyle approach to exercise, encouraging clients
to build up to thirty minutes of physical activity (cardiorespiratory,
resistance and stretching) on most days through a combination of
natural, recreational and planned physical activities.
As a result of their certification through The Cooper Institute,
consultants are trained to customize clients’ fitness plans based on
their individual Activity Stage: * Contemplation – thinking about it *
Preparation – getting ready to do it * Action – doing it * Maintenance
– have been doing it
Clients can purchase exercise tools at our Centres or through our Jenny
Direct Program – such as pedometers, heart rate monitors, abs ball
kits, resistance cords kits, and balance ball kits - to encourage them
to become more active.
Developing A Balanced Approach to Living [MIND]
Clients’ Weight Loss Mindsets are a reflection of their personal
beliefs, values and life experiences, and have a very powerful effect
on their behavior. Throughout their programs, their Consultants provide
them with strategies to help them move toward/stay on the
Self-Validator/Self-Nurturer path. The four Weight Loss Mindsets are: *
Self-Validator – celebrating your successes * Self-Critic – focusing on
your shortcomings * Self-Nurturer – making yourself a priority *
Self-Sacrificer – putting everyone’s needs before your own
An additional tool available to clients in our Touchstones for Success
kit - a DVD, CD and brochure developed with well-known motivational
expert Martha Beck. Centered around five inspirational touchstones, the
kit helps women create a positive weight loss mindset and maintain
their motivation in reaching their goals.

In addition to the one-on-one guidance and motivation they receive each
week from their consultants, Jenny Craig clients also receive valuable

Maintenance Program
At Jenny Craig, our goal is to help clients learn not how only to lose
their excess weight, but how to effectively manage their desired weight
once it has been attained. Based on findings from the National Weight
Registry, we encourage clients to consume a healthy, low fat diet;
enjoy consistent physical activity; practice self-monitoring and positive coping skills; and develop a support network of family and friends.
